Upton double mini roundabout

The picture of Upton double mini roundabout below is orientated with north upwards.  There are no road markings telling us what lanes to use, therefore we must use the first roundabout to get us into a good position for the second roundabout. This page will explain what lanes to use if you are not sure.

The following four diagrams show routes through from each approach roads and show what lanes you need to select and what lines you need to drive to safely and successfully transit these roundabouts. Remember, you must give way to traffic approaching from the right if you reach a give way line.

You may notice that east & west approach follow the same lane selection and routes.

Likewise the north & south approach also mirror each other.

To summarise:

Approaching from the north or south:

Left lane - left turn

Right lane - straight ahead or right turn

Approaching from the east or west:

Left lane - left turn or straight ahead

Right lane - right turn

Take some time to study the video below.

Focus on one approach road, then focus on one car and see how it navigates the roundabout.

What lane does it use to get to it's chosen exit?

Do the same with all the approach roads until you gain an understanding on how the roundabout works.
